I am currently working on a manuscript titled BLOWING UP LOS ANGELES, and two excerpts from the novel can now be found online.
1 // bruised fruit // published by metazen
2 // when she pets the back of my neck i can be an animal // published by monkeybicycle
There are also side stories or lost chapters coming out soon in kill author and on Michael Inscoe’s new literary experimental art site unsure if i will allow my beard to grow for much longer.
When asked LA OR NEW YORK, Masha Tupitsyn answered: Both. Over the last few years, I’ve developed an obsession with LA, albeit an LA that no longer exists. See the documentary Los Angeles Plays Itself.
(The above picture is the title screen of the same documentary).
Check out her new ‘interview’ on we who are about to die.
Some inspiration for the manuscript so far comes from: Beauty Talk & Monsters by Masha Tupitsyn, Slow Jams + Bruised Fruit + Cursive A Book of Dirty Drawings + DAVID CHOE by David Choe, SPRAWL by Danielle Dutton, The Informers by Bret Easton Ellis, and Bed by Tao Lin.
Also the films: Nights and Weekends (2008), Wendy and Lucy (2008), A History of Violence (2005), Planet B Boy (2007), and 28 Days Later (2002), none of which does takes place in Los Angeles, CA.
